Hi! My name is Tor Fredrik Kaasen. I am 21 years old. Living in Oslo, Norway. Working as a chess coach for 4+ years. National coach of Norways Women team during the Chess Olympiad 2022 in India. I have helped a lot of players go from 1500 Fide to 2000+ in less then 2 years.

In 2024 i made the decision to become a full time chess coach- and so i take my job very seriously and i am constantly improving my teaching methods.

Started playing at the age of 9. I reached 2400+ at the age of 14, and after that I started working more seriously. I became the 3rd youngest IM in Norway ever (15)

Bronze medalist in European Youth u18 championship (2019) 4th place in World Youth u16 Championsip (2018)
I have won the Norwegian Blitz, rapid and Bullet championship.
Many good places in open tournaments. 3th place in Chigorin Memorial, Shared winner in Oslo chess festival, 3 place in Norwegian Elite championship where I scored my first GM norm, and shared 3rd place in Fagernes Chess where I scored my second GM norm.
Went from 1500 FIDE to 2475 in 2years- so I know a few things about rapid improvement!

Started teaching in 2020. I have worked mainly with Norwegian young players, making them gain a lot of rating. I am head coach at Norway best youth club (Dragulf- Chess school of Simen Agdestein) And i was the national coach of Norway during the chess olympiad in 2022.
I have also worked with adult improvers- and i believe there is never too late to get stronger at chess!

I have made a course for Chessable called "Neutralize the Catalan"
In addition a course for "Thechessworld" a complete 1.e4 repertoire.

Played Fotball from age 7 until 17, so quite decent player also. Probably my second passion after chess.

Strong in calculations and dynamics. Universal player, ready to play all types of positions. Very updated on the lastest opening theory, so I can surely help you in that field. Have been working with many GM coaches in my life, so i am familiar with different teaching methods. I am always following my students very closely, watching their games and making suggestions what to do better/ to improve the way to think.

Specialised method for calculation and how to handle very complex positions with my Static and Dynamic approach to decide what to do. Can help in the openings (very updated) and teaching a lot the typical middlegames as well as endgame.

I follow my students very closely- and always watch their games. On the next lessons after games i will analyze them very deeply and give the good examples what should do better for next game. Every game is a chance to learn.
